ICI - Project 1 / Project 2

Project 1

For our first project, different group leaders were picked from groups A, B, and C. Each group leader was given a respective role in this industry to interview on.

My group leader was Ayuni and we were lucky enough to interview an Interior Architect!
Our group consisted of Ayuni - as the leader, Me, Eugene, Chuu Yee and Johnson. Ayuni drove us to KL to search for his office in Varitas - a well known firm. We were very previlaged enough to interview someone from that firm.

He was indeed a very inspiring man.

So, our project 1 task had individual work and group work. For individual work we had to create a magazine based on the interview and for our group work, we had to create a video of the interview.

- Video hasn't been uploaded yet -

Individual Task - A magazine

Reflection : This project was really a stepping stone for me to do "graphic work" digitally. Before this, I was really handicapped with digital work. Hence, I used powerpoint for this assignment. I wanted to do this assignment by hand. But I decided to push through and grab inspirations from the net to make it "simple" yet - hopefully - "sleek"! As I said, this was definitely a stepping stone for me to work digitally.

Project 2

For this group project, I was in group A. Kimbereley was nominated as leader for this group. For this assignment, we had to look into our own respective role and work as a whole team in a construction industry. Therefore for group work we had to create a project brief for a proposal and for individual work we had to create our own company profile, and roles. I was lucky enough to be an architect and got to learn loads about this role.

Project Brief :

This was my company profile.

These are my company cards and letterhead.

Reflection :

I got to know about the role of the architect in deeper depth. I also learned, as in really learned ways on how to use illustrator which I never did think I would achieve. And I am pleased about it. I also thank the lecturers for their motivation and constructive critisism for our work to push us. This project really was an eye opener and ice breaker for me for this industry to know more about the roles and the process of a specific role. It was fun and challenging at the same time.

The Journal

Tj1 from koezan

Reflection :
Throughout this first TJ, I am able to learn about the importance on the need to restore and conserve the environment. This is very important to our natural environment as commercialized buildings are increasing whilst the trees in nature and our natural habitat is decreasing. Therefore, we shouldn't take nature for granted.

-I have not gotten my TJ2 back yet-

Tj3 from koezan

Reflection :

For this TJ, I am able to learn more about public spaces and its functions prepared for the public and its versatilbility. I've learned about the usage of certain elements to suit the public and to provide and pleasent environment for the public.

Life long learning skills

These are things that I would keep for a very long time as it is very important and shouldn't be taken for-granted.

Idea Journals

Idj3 from koezan
Idj4 from koezan

These are all of my IDJs. There are only 3 as I have not gotten my second Idea Journal back!

Reflection : Through out doing these IDJs, I've learned so much about my daily object - The Toothbrush in many depths. I definitely have viewed this toothbrush in different ways and it has enhance my creativity in order to think out of the box and differently. Having an object as a pet is definitely interesting.

Discipline Specific Knowledge

I am able to learn about my object well as well as think out of the box.
This is something that I can carry out in my daily life to solve a problem or to form something.

English

We had our first assignment which was ; Essay Writing.

For this assignment, we were required to write a 5-paragraphed expository/argumentative essay on our own through references from books or the internet. This was to evaluate our knowledge and ability to research information to support the arguments, point of views and opinions for the essay. This was a learning process for us to learn how to cite the sources of information and to also provide a list of references.

3 tasks were given to us :

1. In some countries young people have little leisure time and are under a lot of pressure to work hard in their studies. What do you think are the causes and effects of this condition? Plan your response, and then write a cause and effect essay.

 2. Write a compare or contrast essay about any two traditional houses of your choice.

 3. Identify the steps involved in producing an attractive sketch. Then, write a process essay to describe this process.

The tasks I chose was ; number 1 as it was more relatable and understanding as it has been an issue in this time era.

(The front cover and pre-writing are situated at the end of the slide)

Reflection : As I enjoy writing, and stating facts I did enjoy writing this assignment and giving my opinions regarding this issue. It broadened my way of thinking critically as well as I had to give my opinions. I definitely learned a lot while writing this essay in terms of research and understanding as well.

Learning outcomes :
Discipline specific knowledge.
Intrapersonal skills.

Life-long learning.

Assignment 2 : Oral Presentation

For our second assignment, we had an oral presentation. We - as a group had to make a video (oral) presentation that lasted 5 minutes. The video was based on us talking about any famous architect. The architect we chose was Ms Shila Prakash. Mainly because her designs are very distinctive and different from the rest.

Reflection : It was without a doubt, odd to talk in front of the camera, but the more you practise through the errors you make, the easier it becomes. I definitely had fun doing this oral presentation as I've learned how to make impromptu sentences as well. I've learn that during oral presentations, it isn't all about memorizing the facts and it is more about understanding what you want to say and what you know.

Learning outcome :

communication skills.
Digital literacy.
Interpersonal skills.

CTS - The Final Project / The Game Tournament (Part A, Project 2)

So, for our Final Project, we had to create a game out of our given daily objects! My daily object was a toothbrush. I admit, it was a task trying to think or create a game that required brushing to show the main function of the toothbrush. But after countless researching, consulting, and experimenting as well as being open to suggestions, an idea finally came around. It's the process that leads to the idea! Our dear lecturers, gave us tasks such as Idea Journals to get to know our object better and tutorials during tutorial sessions! Such as knowing what our object can do or cannot do, imagining our object as a super hero and so on. This is to broaden our mind and open our mind on our objects to what it can be or used for.

The objective of my game is to brush off the paint from the balloon, with water, the fastest! This was the ideal game at the end as it shows the function of the toothbrush to brush dirt off.

Here is the slideshow of my booklet :

My reflections :

I definitely have learnt a lot doing this project. Mainly to learn how to manage my time (to be honest) and to also think out of the box of different things one object can do. I am very blessed to be able to work together with my lecturers and classmates too! To brain storm ideas. It has definitely drawn me closer to them. It gets really tiring at times but at the end of the day, I have definitely learnt alot for this. This is something, and this thinking is something that I can use. I am deeply inspired as well :)

CTS - Onomatopoeia (Project 1)

Hello! So, our first ever assignment for CTS was Onomatopoeia which was basically us performing a song (a musical performance) with only our voices and daily objects we could easily find at home/ use daily. We had to create an instrument with our daily objects and had to make sure that the instruments we made had full function and made sense.

Well, we were first divided into 3 groups, group - A, B, and C! I was in group A. After that, we were then again divided into 3 different groups from our group A, B and C into units. I was in unit 3. We were given a song each by the lecturers and the song given for my group was "The Temptations - My Girl." I then formed a Whatsapp group to ease discussions when we all didn't meet up and also to plan the meet ups.

We had several meetings before the performance to decide on the extra songs, design of instruments, story line and singing of songs and incorperation of everything.

The musical performance ranged from 5-8 minutes long. We had to perform this on the 3rd of May at LT 21. We had around a month to do everything as this assignment was given on the 4th of April!

The main objective for this project is to enhance our creative thinking skills in order to create and build something that produced sound and could imitate any musical instrument there is. It really did help me think out of the box and also it did teach me how to be more organize and to prioritize my work well. Most of the marks went to our creativity, originality and usage and also how well the instrument was played as it is the main objetive for this experiment.

Anyway, here are some pictures taken from the meetings we had!

First ever official meeting at Starbucks!

We were basically searching songs to add on and listening to the other song to get ideas on how the performance would be like :)

We then decided to move out so that we could sing our songs!

We also had discussions in class rooms.. :)

As well as balconies!

Dan was like our director as he had experience with performing on stage and drama and stuff :)
This was when he taught us how to project our voices.

We also had practices at the Lecture Theatre during the weekend!

Process of making my poster..

Ideas and stuff!

Walking to the library for discussionssss

These pictures were taken the day before our performance! It was all practice practice and practice!

Stressed out moment haha

We received feedback from people as well and asked for their opinions in order to improve.

I was also the MC together with Preston!

All in all, it was a really good experience although it was really stressful at times, it has taught me to divide and organize my time better and stuff. It was important to remember to have fun in what we do and to make the best out of everything and to also give it our all. We really enjoyed ourselves and the performances by other people. We all definitely bonded and became more open to ideas. Some of us got over stage fright, and some of us who have never sung before managed to sing for the first time.

It was definitely fun doing this project!

And at last! The video :)
